Problems with extended passports: Tourists in Poland faced denial of check-in for flights

Tourists with extended passports may be denied check-in for flights from Poland.

Over the past week, there have been cases in Poland where passengers with extended passports have been denied check-in for flights. 

Although official information from the consulate does not confirm these developments, Ukrainians with extended passports should carefully consider all possible consequences and risks before travelling. As some countries may not recognise extended passports as valid documents for border crossing, this may result in denial of boarding on charter and scheduled flights, or even denial of departure..

In order to avoid possible problems and risks, we recommend Ukrainian citizens with extended passports to:

• Check destination country requirements: Before travelling or purchasing tickets for charter or scheduled flights, check whether the country recognises your passport as a valid document of entry.

• Consider alternatives: If you are unable to obtain a new passport or are unsure whether you can travel with a renewed passport, consider other travel options or postpone your trip until you have a valid passport.
